We are lucky in this sense. Our business pushes us for travel, to meet with different folks who live in different places, some times very far from Moscow, other times in its downtown. One of them is Natalya Ketrova, whom we met purely by accident several years ago. She was born on December 25, 1973 in the town of Sergey Posad, Russia. She felt the desire to decorate when she was a very young girl.. She remembers that at the age of 4 she watched her mom bringing in the Christmas tree. She was the first one in the family to decorate In school she was the painter for school board newspaper, and later for her town youth magazine. While in the high school she got straight "A" s and graduated the high school with honors - Red Diploma. In 1999 entered the college of Design and studied there for 4 year. In her college years she felt for designing figurines and musical bells. It started when her family's old friend, Michael, a former carver, who lived in the remote town of the Sakhalin peninsula, about 3,000 miles from Natalya's home once flew in to visit them for Christmas and brought with him a carving of Santa. His idea was to give it as a birthday present to Natalya. Everybody was surprised to see this beauty. They all remembered that tragic accident after which Michael stopped to carve. He was missing several fingers on his right hand. This wooden little figurine immediately caught the eye of Natalya. In her mind she already gowned him in an unknown but gorgeous fascinating dress, with sparkles of gold and precious stones. For some reason she saw that gown blue, an old Russian traditional color which always dominated the dress of Russian Father Frost in original folk tales. That was the first step which formed the cooperation between Natalya and Michael for many years to come. Despite very intensive studies in the University of Architecture in Moscow, Natalya did not forget what she fell in love with. She continues to invent other pearls of decorating, making her dream true. She makes Santa's, snow maiden, fairytale characters such as Alenoushka, Lel, Ivanoushka and many others. She is not limited only to people - decorates also the gowns of animals and birds. Recently she spelled the idea to decorate Eiffel Tower and the White House. Check with us periodically for new releases of her wonderful work. Natalya is married. She has two children. One is Tatiana, a girl of 4 and the son Sergei, who is 2 . Her husband is almost 20 years older and is a Ph.D. in astrophysics. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
