I was fortunate enough to take a seminar from Marina Domnikova in 2007 and
enjoyed it very much.
She led us through a logical progression of how to paint
flowers and a bird and everyone finished the lovely tray that they were on, by
the end of the seminar. Marina came around and helped each of us individually.
It was important to her that each student was successful and everyone's tray was
lovely when we were done. The translator, Alexander, did a wonderful job of
explaining what we were to do and why.
It was very educational and I would highly recommend Marina as a teacher. She is a wonderful painter and a very sweet, caring instructor.
I believe we should take advantage of the opportunity to take a seminar from such a gifted, sharing Zhostovo artist when the chance arises. You won't be disappointed.

“I recently had the privilege and pleasure of attending a five day seminar sponsored by Alkota Russian Treasures with Marina Domnikova.  As a seasoned painter in several mediums, I have taken seminars and classes with some very big brushes.  I have been a fan of the Zhostovo technique every since I laid eyes on it many years ago.

Marina’s seminar was wonderful.  She was extremely well prepared and provided us with color worksheets, practice boards, and practice papers.  Her stroke work instruction techniques are a must for all painters, beginners and advanced.

Although Marina’s English is very limited, she was able to, through her interpreter and demonstration, teach very comprehensively.  She provided her students with theory, technique, color and history, by personifying her project.

A seasoned painter will be challenged and learn a great technique.  A beginner will learn the basics of decorative painting through stroke work instruction.

I thoroughly enjoyed this seminar and recommend at least a class with Marina Domnikova.  It will certainly make the student a better painter.”

I have had the honor and pleasure to take the first class Marina Domnikova taught here in Illinois. Even though she speaks little English, between her and her translator they are able to get quickly and efficiently the information across. She even picked up some painting English and used it all along.

Marina demonstrates each step and then has us do it on our own surface. She comes around to each person watching to be sure they understand the step before moving on to the next step. She will even help you with your project if you wish. It is not unusual for that step to click after she demonstrates it on your piece.

I truly enjoyed her class and learning to do the Zhostovo style of painting. I look forward to taking another one of her classes.

“I want to thank  very much Alkota Russian Treasures for giving us, members of Windy Brushes and Illinois Prairie  Painters the opportunity to take Russian painting classes with Marina Domnikova.  She is a lovely person and an excellent teacher.   I felt so privileged to be able to attend the five day seminar.

Marina taught us from the beginning the basic strokes that form the flowers .  Whether a beginner or advanced painter, this step is important to begin the base coating properly.  Marina is very patient and willing to show each step over again until we understand it. The glazing and shading techniques add depth and bring the picture to life.

At the end of the seminar, we all had beautiful trays.  I feel this  class taught me a lot about Russian painting and also techniques I can use in all of my other styles of painting.

Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity and I look forward to painting with Marina in the future. “
