"Alexander Nevskiy", 18"H, nut7o, Unique
This wooden nutcracker is the work of two artists: the carver and the painter/decorator. By carving it is the second copy. By decoration - unique.
it is carved out of linden wood log (Amur species, Siberia) and painted with gouache and acrylic.
It is decorated with burning on wood technique, used only (because of time consuming arduous process) by only few artists. The technique involves the drawing of the subject matter - the gown, the headdress, the pants, and the boots - on wood with the pencil, then the burning of every single drawing dot and then the actual painting. All the work is done through magnifying glass, is very time consuming and scrupulous to do. In order to bring closer to life every character the artist gowns him into the real clothes of those times.
This work is called after Alexander Nevskiy (1221-1263), commonly regarded as a key military figure of medieval Rus who rose to legendary status over his military victories over German and Swedish invaders.
Workshop "Tabo", Sergiyev Posad, Russia.
