"Barclay de Tolli", 15"H, nu61, Russian Unique Wooden Nutcracker
This wooden nutcracker is a unique creation of two artists: the carver and the painter. it is crafted completely by hand: carved out of linden wood log (Amour species, Siberia) and painted with tempera, and gouache. It is decorated with burning on wood technique, used only (because of time consuming arduous process) by literally few artists in contemporary Russia.
This work is dedicated to Prince Barclay de Tolli, general and then field marshal, commonly regarded as one of the Russian prominent military commanders during the war against Napoleon. Workshop "Tabo", Sergiyev Posad, Russia.15"H, with drum - 18"H.
This is one of twelve unique nutcrackers (all of them are historic characters - Emperors, Czars, Dukes, Statesmen, Marshals) created by Alkota. The original idea is of Mr. Abdullah Zaman, avid collector of nutcrackers.
