"Russian Cavalry Guard", 15"H, nu60
This nutcracker is a unique creation of two artists: the talented master carver Sergei and the painter I.K. It is crafted by hand: carved out linden wood and painted with tempera and acrylic. It is decorated with burning on wood technique, where a part of the military uniform is finely burned through magnifying glass. The gold paint applied.
The artist - I.K. - is a self made wood decorator ( a professional interpreter fluent in English and German). The technique is very complicated and time consuming so just literally few Russian artists use it for decorating wooden figurines. The nutcracker is put into the historic military uniform of Russian Cavalry Guard of the 1812 First Patriotic War with Napoleon. Special literature and historic drawings were used to create the character.
This is one from a series of twelve unique nutcrackers (all of them are historic characters - Emperors, Czars Dukes, Statesmen, Marshals) initially designed and created in 2019 by Russian artists and Alkota with the help of A.A. Merza, a vivid collector of nutcrackers from all over the world.
