This work is completely crafted by hand: masterfully carved out of linden wood and painted with tempera. It is decorated in dot painting technique where every single dot of paint is actual brush stroke. The painting is done in unusual colors - purple and pink which brings another flavor to the work.
The beauty of the set in showing both Russian Santa (Grand Father Frost) with his granddaugter Snow Maiden.
According to Russian folkloric tradition she lives in the forest all the year where she protects little animals and birds against dark forces of evil. When Christmas comes Santa picks her up and they both go and give away presents to the well behaved children.

This Santa is called after Prince Oleg, brother of the Great Prince Vladimir, who brought Christianity to Russia (988 AC).
