The Snowmaiden (according to Russian folkloric tradition) is the granddaughter of Russian Santa - Grandfather Frost.  She lives in the forest all the year round and protects there little animals and birds. When Christmas is approaching, Santa is picking her up and they go together and give away presents to well behaved children.
