Dolls with Ornaments

Dolls with ornaments is something new which did not exist earlier. It is not a nested set, but carry a group of Christmas ornaments inside. "Lera" workshop in Moscow was the first to design and produce few initial examples of them about 10 years ago. They became so popular that very shortly the collection grew up to almost 50 designs. People like the idea of getting out of the doll Christmas ornaments, which they love and decorate their Christmas trees with them. Peter the Great was the Czar who ruled that all Russians should install an evergreen cornifer (pine, fur or spruce) tree in their households, put ornaments on them and celebrate the New Year. As a nationwide tradition though using Christmas trees every year became popular in Russia, as well as in many other European countries later - in 19th century.
