Flowers

     "Flowers" is one of the most beloved subject matters of Russian artists. Many of them were raised outside towns and cities, were close to nature and to the Russian village traditions. Russians are used to gather flowers and herbs in the forest. In the past some of them were utilised in the household for the healing purposes. Russian girls are fond of putting flowers together and using them as head decoration during the dance in khorovods (circles). Views of Russian villages and nature are other popular motives. In the summer and the fall Russians enjoy going to the forest to collect mushrooms, berries, flowers and sometimes honey.
